Vic Fangio Calls J.J. McCarthy a Steal for Giants

• Vic Fangio called J.J. McCarthy a steal for New York.
• The quarterback arrived via trade from Minnesota in late September.
• McCarthy takes over as starter for the Giants offensive unit.

What happened

Defensive coordinator Vic Fangio publicly praised quarterback J.J. McCarthy, stating his trade acquisition by New York was an absolute steal. McCarthy arrived via trade from Minnesota in late September. Fangio's supportive comments reflect high internal confidence in the young quarterback as he officially takes leadership of the team's passing attack heading into week 9 of the current regular season.

Fantasy impact

In Superflex setups and deep 12 or 14-team leagues, J.J. McCarthy sees a significant rise in overall fantasy value. With rookie Jaxson Dart on IR due to a meniscus tear, McCarthy steps in as the primary starting option under center. His fantasy stock rises to an immediate waiver wire priority and viable QB2 streaming option for week 9 fantasy matchups.

What changes for the team

McCarthy taking over under center stabilizes New York's passing game going forward. His distribution should maintain steady target share and fantasy output for star wideout Malik Nabers and the rest of the Giants pass catchers.

What to do: Add J.J. McCarthy off waivers immediately in Superflex leagues for quarterback depth in week 9.
